President Barack Obama defended his attacks on Republican Mitt Romney‘s career at Bain Capital, saying if the former businessman thinks his private-equity experience translates to running the U.S. economy then he’s “missing what this job is about.
“When you’re president, as opposed to head of a private-equity firm, then your job is not simply to maximize profits,” Mr. Obama said at a press conference at the conclusion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Chicago. President Barack Obama‘s re-election campaign has been on a mission to malign Bain Capital, the venture capital firm co-founded by Mitt Romney.
However, before Romney became the Republican Party’s nominee for president, Mrs. Obama said she was “excited” about the role of Bright Horizons, a corporate day care company founded and financially backed by none other than Bain Capital then led by Mitt Romney [played] in her “Let’s Move! Child Care campaign.

The pace of job growth has slowed down dramatically in recent months. The economy added 80,000 jobs last month according to a report from the Labor Department. But even that fell short of expectations of 90,000 and was not enough to change the unemployment rate from 8.2%. By comparison, the economy added 275,000 in the first month of the year.
