John Adams: “Do not let our posterity be diluted with fiction...”

With the RNC now concluded, we find this quote by Foundng Father and second President of The United States of America John Adams, particularly appropriate considering the tone and messages presented during the convention about returning to America's Founding Principles.

"But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected [sic] before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations... This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution."

John Adams, letter to H. Niles, 1818

Here is how this excert and sentiment in Adams' letter was depicted in the HBO Miniseries "John Adams."

Eastwood to Obama: "We own this country"

If you missed Clint Eastwood’s speech at the RNC last night, we hop you will take about 10 minutes to take in the 82 year old Oscar-winning director’s message to RNC delegates, America and Barrack Obama.  There are reports this morning that the speech was adlibbed.

FNC’s Juan Williams: "Ann Romney very lucky and blessed…”

Listen to how Fox News analyst Juan Williams describes Ann Romney in a round table discussion following Mrs. Romney’s speech last night at the RNC.

If being stricken with Multiple Sclerosis and breast cancer is being “lucky and blessed,” then I don’t know the meanings of those words.  Williams' comments are indefensible.

George W. Romney: Did The Apple Fall Far From The Tree?

This short interview with George Romney was originally published here on June 20, 2012.  We thought it deserved a second look as the RNC ramps up tonight in Tampa.

George W. Romney is the father of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and was an auto industry executive who became a three-term Governor of Michigan, a Republican Presidential candidate and a member of the Nixon Cabinet.  George Romney died in 1995.  He was 88.

Romney was chairman and president of the American Motors Corporation when he resigned in 1962 to run, successfully, for Governor. He ran for the Republican Presidential nomination in 1968 but dropped out of the race just before the New Hampshire primary. He then served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in President Richard M. Nixon's first term.

George Romney represented the liberal wing of the Republican Party, supporting civil rights initiatives and Government social programs and opposing the war in Vietnam. His politics proved successful in Michigan, where he was elected Governor three times, by increasingly large margins.

We found this 1992 interview of the elder Romney rather profound considering the current political and economic state of affairs the United States is facing some 20-years later.

It makes one wonder what our leaders in Washinton have been doing over the past two decades , lending greater credence to  the claim that "All politicians are the same."

At approximately the one minute mark of this interview, Mr. Romney mentioned Frenchman Alexis de Tocqueville and how this French visitor viewed the early Americans and how they dealt with their individual problems.

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington

Simply put, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a story about an idealistic Senate replacement who takes on Washington’s political corruption and one man's effect on American politics.  Directed by Frank Capra in 1939, Capra's honest look at corruption and political power brokers in Washington—seen through the eyes of a naive young man (James Stewart) appointed to fill a Senate vacancy—remains one of the most important contributions of the American cinema.  When originally released, some Congressional members were outraged at the depiction of dealings in "their" hallowed halls and attempted to have the film shelved.  Public reception to the film was lukewarm and box-office receipts were weak (it barely recouped its production costs), but the critics loved the film, nominating it for 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor,  Best Supporting Actor and Best Director.  It won for Best Original Story.

In 1989, the Library of Congress added the movie to the United States National Film Registry, for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."  Tomorrow FIJ will present the full-length, two hour classic “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."  Here is the film’s original 1939 tailer.

Is Brandon Raub a Political Prisoner of the Obama Administration?

“Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.”

John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, 1775

In this video Attorney Kevin Hayslett explains in detail the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  Hayslett provides easy to understand examples of how the First Amendment impacts our lives as it relates to the freedom of speech, press, religion, and redress in our country.   We bring this video to our readers in the wake of the Obama Administration’s latest attack on the Bill of Rights and The United States Constitution which we report on following the Hayslett video.

Brandon Raub, a former marine, was arrested recently and was detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting political opinions and song lyrics on his Facebook. When the government can incarcerate American citizens for merely exercising their First Amendment rights, argues John Whitehead then we are truly living in frightening times.

The 2012 Election: America's Moment of Truth?

From the Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies & Citizenship, Hillsdale College, we bring our readers what we believe is an honest, one hour lecture entitled “The 2012 Election: America's Moment of Truth,” presented by James W. Ceaser, a Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia, founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson.

This lecture was originally presented January 6, 2012, and outlines what is at stake and how citizens can understand the political and constitutional issues that will be decided in the 2012 elections.

U.S. officials: Russian Submarine Sailed in Gulf of Mexico Undetected for Weeks

For those readers too young to remember the so-called cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States of America or the Cuban Missile Crisis in October, 1962, you may be wondering, using the vernacular of VP Biden, “what’s the big F-ing deal with a Russian submarine entering the Gulf of Mexico?”

The Washington Free Beacon reported on August 14 that a Russian nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles operated undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks.

Now who do you suppose might have invited our Russian friends to play with their nuclear-powered attack submarines in the United States’ backyard?

But first, let's recap a couple a few of the facts:

A Russian nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles operated undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks and its travel in U.S. strategic waters was only confirmed after it left the region.  Where was the U.S. Coast Guard?  That's a pretty big fish to go undeteced for weeks.

What about the Department of Homeland Security?  Where was Janet Napolitano at some frat house party?

Below is A file photo taken in Brest harbor, western France, on September 21, 2004, showing the Vepr Russian nuclear submarine of the Project 971 Shchuka-B type, or Akula-class (Shark) by NATO classification, the same type as the Nerpa Russian nuclear submarine.

For all of you cynics out there, I am—of course—aware that Obama has "reset" U.S. relations with this one-time enemy.  And I am keenly aware that Obama has discussed campaign strategy with Russia’s former President Dmitry Medvedev several months ago, right before Medvedev left office.

The risk of another war with Georgia, a former Soviet Union satellite is certainly not “bloody likely.”

Then again, it isn’t as though Russia, under its current president, Vladimir Putin is yuckin’ it up with many  sworn enemies of the United States and our closest ally in the Middle East.

Dishonorable Disclosures Carry Life and Death Consequences

"When we assumed the Soldier, we did not lay aside the Citizen; and we shall most sincerely rejoice with you in the happy hour when the establishment of American Liberty, upon the most firm and solid foundations shall enable us to return to our Private Stations in the bosom of a free, peacefully and happy Country.”

George Washington in address to the New York Legislature, June 26, 1775

(Above) Obama, Biden and members of the national security team watch in the Situation Room of the White House on May 1, 2011, as “Operation Geronimo" unfolds.

This morning, OPSECTeam released a video with hopes of stopping narcissistic politicians, including Barrack  Obama and others from politically capitalizing on U.S. national security operations and secrets.

This honorable group comprised of Intelligence and Special Operations forces is furious and frustrated at how this president and those in positions of authority in his adminitration have exploited their service for political advantage. Countless leaks, interviews and decisions by the Obama Administration and other government officials have undermined the success of our Intelligence and Special Operations forces and put future missions and personnel at risk.  This latest Obama administration scandal is not the first time Obama and his dishonorable, virtueless minions have turned a blind eye on our country’s front line security forces.

The unwarranted and dangerous public disclosure of Special Forces Operations is so serious -- that for the first time ever -- former operators have agreed to risk their reputations and go 'on the record' in a special documentary titled "Dishonorable Disclosures." Its goal is to educate America about serious breaches of security and prevent them from ever happening again.
